Favorite Reads

Our little girl has taken to books like her Mom and Dad.  Two of her favorites are Hello, Bugs! and Hello, Animals!

For anyone on the look out for a new baby or baby shower gift, these are highly recommended by us!  The black and white images are interesting for kids and parents alike, and the cost of each book is very reasonable.

... We're experiencing our fourth day of snow fall, and it's starting to resemble other states in which we lived with massive snow in the past.  It's quite the beautiful world out there. ...

Happy Tuesday!

We're in the midst of (yet) another day of stormy, snowy weather.  Yesterday wasn't too bad, though the streets were filled with heavy and wet snow.  Today's snow is Utah powder snow, and a fair amount of it!  Oh, to be a skier, as Powder Mountain and Snowbasin are just a short drive through the canyon.

Anyhow, over at New Moms Talk, we're doing a shout out or a gratitude-out to the talents of our Moms who made some amazing pieces for our little girl!

Training Tool: Felt Board for Susanna

We're currently on the receiving end of (more, yes more!) heavy wet snow that is not normal for Utah.  I'll share pictures later, provided that all goes well and sleep happens for someone whose name starts with "W."

In the mean time, with Susanna being more active and alert, and the mountains of snow that exist here limiting outdoor training, I decided to make her a felt board.  It was super simple, very fun, and she enjoys it greatly!  It keeps her focused while I enjoy a strength workout, some yoga, or just a bit of me time.

First Postpartum Workout

I hope all are safe as storms hit various parts of our beautiful country.

Our sweet little girl is relaxing and I'm anticipating a great workout in the warmth of our home.  We're under Winter Storm Advisory, and I'm not gutsy enough to run out there in the dark- yet.

So here's a look at that first at-home workout post the birth of our wonderful Susanna Hope.

A Great Read (the milk memos)

After Christmas I unexpectedly came across a phenomenal book, the milk memos.  Contrary to the belief that it's impossible to read a book with a newborn, I finished this book in 36 hours while reading every word and attending to my less-than-a-month-old daughter.

It's a book worth reading for moms, dads, future moms or dads, hoped-to-be-one-day moms or dads, employers, and more.  Okay, it's just a great book that is wittily written with phenomenal facts!

Sweet Susanna is far more active (in a good way) in her car seat, so I made these for her recently.

Ogden Canyon Travels

We decided that Sunday afternoon required a little out-and-about action, and so we trekked up to Canyon Road.  We were met with a line of stopped traffic, thanks to the repair work that is going on in the canyon.  As a result, Scott drove up to North Ogden and we took a different route into the canyon.  It was beautiful!

We stopped here and there for me to take pictures.  Susanna slept the entire time and only let out a tiny peep once.  She's such a great traveler!

Alphabet City

Alphabet City is a fabulous book by Stephen T. Johnson.  The images are wow-some and the book provides infinite opportunities for learning and exploration from persons of all ages.

I wish I had known about it when I was in Virginia teaching.  I wonder if there's an Alphabet City-esque book for Cyrillic and other pictorial languages.
